Challenging Pre-Med Curriculum with a Choice of Two Degrees
Students who wish to enter the pre-medicine program at Robert Morris University can earn either a bachelor of arts degree in environmental science or a bachelor of science degree in biology. Both programs’ curricula include a pre-med concentration and both have courses that focus on science fundamentals—required learning for all students entering the healthcare field. You’ll also have the option to choose a track in specialties such as osteopathic medicine, chiropractic medicine, dentistry, or veterinary medicine.

Leading Pre-med Students to Success
RMU places a great deal of importance on faculty/student interaction and learning, and that’s especially true with the pre-med program.

  • Our pre-med students are each assigned a faculty advisor who can help them throughout their time at RMU. A faculty advisor’s role includes curriculum planning, internship guidance, setting up shadowing opportunities, ensuring proper preparation for the MCAT/DAT/GRE exam, and supervision as a student goes through the medical school application and selection process.
  • A pre-professional health committee, comprised of pre-med faculty, also will evaluate each student’s credentials and will write the committee letter required by medical schools.
  • Students at RMU have a whole year to prepare for the MCAT exam, unlike many other institutions that only offer one semester of preparation. Your faculty advisor will work with you to determine the best time for you to take your test.
