BLUE END ZONES

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

After a decade of use by four NCAA Div. I sports teams, intramural games, and training camps, Joe Walton Stadium is getting new turf featuring blue end zones and the Colonials logo at midfield.

“A turf’s life expectancy is about eight to 10 years,” says Craig Coleman, athletic director. “We’ve gotten great use out of the turf over the years and now it’s time to upgrade.”

The biggest advancement in turf since the original field was installed is the refined fill underneath, which provides additional safety and comfort to student-athletes. This new turf also has improved drainage and resistance to fading. The upgrade is intended to bring a more aesthetically pleasing experience for recruits, fans, and players.

Joe Walton Stadium is home to football and men’s and women’s lacrosse. Be sure to come back and see the new turf for yourself on September 19 for Homecoming 2015, when the Colonials will take on the Falcons from Notre Dame of Ohio.
