Colonials to Face Buckeyes in NCAA First Round

Pittsburgh, Pa. – Dec. 1, 2015 –Surrounded by family, friends and fans, the Robert Morris University volleyball team learned its NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday evening during the live NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship Selection Show
The Colonials (19-12) will take on the No. 12-seeded Buckeyes of Ohio State University (23-9) in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament on Friday, Dec. 4 at 7 p.m. inside St. John Arena. The winner of that match will take on the winner of a matchup between the University of Kentucky and American University for a chance to advance to the Lexington, Ky., Regional.
RMU’s appearance in the NCAA Tournament marks its first since 2003 and its sixth overall. This is the first Division I championship appearance for head coach Dale Starr. The Colonials enter the tournament as the lone representative of the Northeast Conference after they defeated regular-season champion LIU Brooklyn, 3-1, to claim the 2015 NEC Tournament title.
Friday’s meeting marks the fourth overall between the two programs and third between RMU and OSU in the NCAA Tournament. Robert Morris trails in the all-time series with Ohio State, 0-3.
