I have to fess up: When Inc. magazine’s Kevin Daum invited me to share my leadership philosophy with his readers, I first assumed he was trying to sell me advertising. Someone really wants to give me free real estate in a national business publication just to wax philosophic about what makes a great leader?
Turns out, though, that like me, Kevin is a student of leadership, which is in fact an attribute that leaders need. Many challenges leaders face today have been faced by others before them, and wise leaders glean lessons from those outside their own field of expertise. That’s one of the eight facets of character-based leadership that I shared with Kevin for this column in Inc.
What are the characteristics that you think make a great leader? What traits do all great leaders share? Tweet me at @DrChrisHoward and use the hashtag #RMULeaders. I can’t wait to hear from you.
