Susan Hofacre Run Set for Nov. 5

Pittsburgh -- The Sixth Annual Susan Hofacre 5k Memorial Run will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m. on the campus of Robert Morris University in Moon.
The proceeds from the race benefit the Susan Hofacre Memorial Scholarship Fund. Susan Hofacre was RMU's only female athletic director, from 2000 until early 2005, when she died of cancer. During her tenure as athletic director, Hofacre oversaw the addition of six new programs, including women's golf, field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's ice hockey. She also oversaw the development of the new track and field at the RMU Island Sports Center and the construction of Joe Walton Stadium.
The race is organized by RMU sport management students enrolled in Professor John Clark's sports sales class.
All runners of the race will receive a free t-shirt. Prizes will be awarded to the first and second place for eight categories male & female runners, including under 12; 13-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70+ years of age or older.
Advance registration (until November 1) costs $15. Registration on race day is $15 and will take place at the Joe Walton Stadium Plaza from 8-8:45 am. Show your RMU Freedom card on the day of the race, and registration is only $10.
