-- Angela Bires, head of the Department of Health Sciences and director of the Nuclear Medicine Technology Program, has been elected a SNMMITS Fellow by the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging. This prestigious designation goes to members of the society's Technologist Section who have demonstrated leadership and have made a significant contribution to the profession of nuclear medicine technology at the national level. Individuals recognized as SNMMITS Fellows have illustrated exemplary contributions in the following areas: participation in professional activities, education, professional experience, professional contributions and civic activities.

-- Scott Leff, asociate director of the Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management, will serve as a judge for Social Venture Partners Pittsburgh's Fast Pitch competition, and the Bayer Center is donating a BoardWorks! package as a capacity-building prize to one of the finalists.

-- The very first First Thursdays Global Get Together takes place Thursday, Feb.  7, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Wheatley Cafe. Come to celebrate our university’s global perspective at this free event that brings together our students, faculty and staff from around the world and the U.S. A great opportunity to make new friends and meet old friends over coffee and tea and try snacks from around the world, every first Thursday of the month, the same place and the same time. -- On Wednesday, Feb. 13, the Multicultural Student Services will host the Black History Month Luncheon as they welcome guest speaker Sabrina Saunders from the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh. Through her presentation titled "Making Great Contributions to the Region Through Youth," Saunders inspires others to make a difference in the Pittsburgh region by working with the youth in the community. The luncheon is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and cost $5 for faculty and staff. RSVP in the Office of Student Life by Wednesday, Feb. 6.

VOTE FOR HOBEY!...Three Colonial seniors are on the fan ballot for college hockey's top individual honor -- the 2013 Hobey Baker Memorial Award -- which will be given out right here in Pittsburgh on Friday, April 12 during Frozen Four week festivities. YOUTH HOCKEY DAYS...The 2013 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey national championship trophy will be on display two more times at area Western Pennsylvania rinks between now and the Frozen Four as part of the Pittsburgh Local Organizing Committee's "Youth Hockey Days." While the Robert Morris men's team is running clinics, get your picture taken with the trophy in the facilities. Your next chance is this Sunday, Feb. 3 from noon-2:30 pm at the RMU Island Sports Center (7600 Grand Ave./Pittsburgh).

The Andy Toole Show comes to the Gibsonia Buffalo Wild Wings this Monday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m.!
