--The Southwestern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Labor and Employment Relations Association and RMU's School of Business sponsored a luncheon meeting June 2 at the Downtown Pittsburgh Fairmont Hotel. The topic was "Public Sector Unions: What Can State and Local Governments Afford and Where are We Headed?"
-- RMU's Change A Life advertising campaign won a silver medal for advertising campaigns in the national Circle of Excellence Awards from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education. RMU also won a Silver Medal for video PSAs and commercial spots for the Change A Life ads.
--The final two brown-bag lunch information sessions about the new web site take place at noon the following two Tuesdays. On Tuesday, June 21, the event takes place in the Ferry Room in Massey Hall, and on June 28 in Boardroom B in Sewall Center.

--Gavin Buxton, assistant professor of physics, has published a paper, "Mathematical modeling of microtubule dynamics: Insights into physiology and disease," in the journal Progress in Neurobiology. He co-authored the paper with Sandra L. Siedlak, George Perry, and Mark A. Smith from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. (Perry is also affiliated with the University of Texas at San Antonio.) The authors developed a computer simulation to study the impact of a new form of treatment for Alzheimer's disease.
