-- RMU and the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC) have signed new articulation agreements for 14 CCBC associate degree programs that will seamlessly transfer to corresponding bachelor’s degree programs at RMU as well as one additional agreement that will allow current CCBC aviation students to transfer into RMU’s organizational leadership program. In total, the 14 new agreements will create career pathways that allow students to more efficiently earn bachelor’s degrees in fields that meet regional workforce needs. These new opportunities are added to approximately 20 transfer programs already in place between the two institutions. -- RMU and Moon Township were jointly awarded the Improving Mobility Award by the Airport Corridor Transportation Association, which bestowed the honor to the university and township for creating in 2013 the Moon Economic Development Group. The group represents civic organizations, business leaders, and developers in Moon Township who work together to improve amenities and the overall quality of life in Moon Township. Among the group's recent achievements was successfully lobbying the Port Authority of Allegheny County to provide two-way service on the G-3 Moon Flyer bus that travels between downtown Pittsburgh and the park-and-ride on University Boulevard near Sheetz.

-- Two student-run clubs won a total of $20,000 to be donated to charity from the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation #Pens4Purpose contest. The RMU chapter of Bringing Hope Home will use its half of the prize funds to buy holiday gifts for families affected by cancer, while the university's Autism Speaks chapter will use the funds to benefit medical research, treatment, and other forms of support for the autistic community.

-- Military Friendly has named RMU a military friendly university for exhibiting leading practices in recruiting and supporting post-military students for 2017. To view the rankings and methodology for RMU, click here.

-- RMU Band is hosting its second annual Operation Oreo! The organization will be collecting Oreo packages for the 316th Army National Guard from Moon Township who are expected to deploy to the Middle East in early December. Collections will be accepted now through Sunday, December 4:

  • Office of Student Life Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • All home basketball games in the Sewall Center through December 4
  • All hockey games at The Island Sports Center Lobby through December 3

-- On Tuesday, December 13, the Office of Residence Life and Student Government Association will host the Almost Midnight Breakfast. This event is held each semester during finals and offers our students a late night break from their studies. Volunteers serve food, monitor attendance, and mingle with our students that night, and naturally they are welcome to enjoy breakfast as well. Please contact Jan Leopold at ext. 5252 or in the Office of Residence Life if you would like to participate.


-- All are welcome to the 17th Annual RMU Island Sports Center's Holiday Spectacular Skating Show featuring "A Rockin' Christmas" on December 3-4 from 1 to 4 p.m. Holiday Ice Skating Show featuring some of your favorite holiday music and rockin' tunes from the '80s to today with skating performances showcasing the talents of the RMU Island Sports Center's Figure Skating Academy, skating school and synchronized skating teams. Open skate follow the show for all interested audience members! 

Advanced Tickets on Sale through today, December 2: $8.00 general admission 

Show Day Tickets: $10.00 for Children 12 & Under and Senior Citizens, $12.00 for Adults.

-- The RMU Department of Media Arts presents the Fall Senior Showcase, an exhibition of outstanding work of our 11 graduating seniors. Join us for refreshments as we celebrate their accomplishments, and view the best work from Graphic Design, Interaction Design, Photography and TV/Video Production.

Opening Reception
Tuesday, December 6, 4:45 ro 7:30 p.m. Free and open to the public, including an awards ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Gallery Hours
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Thursday: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

-- The 2017 Women and Transformational Leadership Symposium is set for Wednesday, January 11, 2017, with the opening reception from 5 to 6 p.m. and the keynote address immediately after. This year’s keynote speaker is Candi Castleberry Singleton, who is the founder of Dignity & Respect, Inc, and her address is titled "The Power of &: The Possibilities of Collaboration & Their Implications for Leadership." To reserve your spot, please register in this Google Doc by Wednesday, January 4. 

-- On December 6 your RMU men's basketball team tips off against the Duquesne Dukes at PPG Paints Arena. Faculty and staff are able to get discounted club tickets for only $5 each (down from $20). There are only a limited amount of tickets available, so it is first come, first served. Purchase your tickets by contacting Alex Hinsey at or ext. 4952.
