-- The annual Creepy Conference takes place Tuesday, Oct. 25, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Dining Room C of the Sewall Center. Explore the Gothic through original research, fiction, photography, and film. Featuring student and faculty presenters and Rooney Scholar Luca Guardabascio's short film "Dismorfobia." Sponsored by the Department of English, the event is free and features snacks. Guests are encouraged to bring a gently used book for the Coraopolis Library Book Drive.

-- The Employee Wellness Fair takes place Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the John Jay Gymnasium, featuring wellness education, health screenings, chair massages, food, and raffle prizes.

-- The Annual Faculty/Staff Family Halloween Party will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 26 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Sewall Center International Suite. All children and families are welcomed to attend this Residence Hall Association-sponsored event that features fun games and activities, food, music, and of course prizes and candy. Costumes are encouraged for all.

-- The Sixth Annual Susan Hofacre 5k Memorial Run will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m. The proceeds from the race benefit the Susan Hofacre Memorial Scholarship Fund. Susan Hofacre was RMU's only female athletic director, from 2000 until early 2005, when she died of cancer. During her tenure as athletic director, Hofacre oversaw the addition of six new programs, including women's golf, field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse, and men's and women's ice hockey. She also oversaw the development of the new track and field at the RMU Island Sports Center and the construction of Joe Walton Stadium. The race is organized by RMU sport management students enrolled in Professor John Clark's sports sales class. Registration information can be found here.

*WELLNESS TIP* Try dried fruit as a snack or an ingredient in your favorite dishes. Just watch the calories. The recommended serving size for dried fruits and vegetables is half that of fresh. Try dried cranberries in rice. Sprinkle raisins or dried berries on your morning cereal. Mix dried apricots into muffins and breads.
