-- The School of Engineering, Mathematics, and Science held its 4th annual Elementary Family STEM Night on March 11th in the Gus Krop Gym. The event was free and open to students in grades K-4 and their families.  With about 150 participants, families were able to engage in STEM activities together such as: Carnegie Science Center's mobile planetarium, Befuddled Farms honey tasting, Fern Hollow Nature Center's microscopic animals, Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium, and many more. This event is offered annually through the SEMS Research & Outreach Center.

 -- Congratulations to senior media arts major Matt Merlino for taking second place in the Cartoon/Graphic Illustration category in the 2017 Student Keystone Press Awards contest held by the Pennsylvania News Media Association! Matt will be honored at the Student Keystone Press Awards luncheon during the "America East Media Business & Technology Conference" on Wednesday, April 12, in Hershey. 

PERSONAL MENTION

-- Jessica Kosty, Graduate Enrollment Manager, has been named to the 2017 Pittsburgh’s 50 Finest.  She joins an exclusive group of men and women, who are recognized for their career success and involvement in the Pittsburgh community.  Jessica, along with the other honorees, will commit to raising awareness and funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. 

-- Scott Irlbacher received the 2017 Outstanding Campus Professional Award from the Order of Omega National Greek Leadership Society at the Northeast Greek Leadership Association annual conference in Hartford, CT.

-- RMU Trustee Robin Renee Sanders D'10 will speak on "The U.S.-Africa Relationship" at Duquesne University on Wednesday, March 22, at 5 p.m. for the university's annual Woodrow Wilson Fellow Lecture in the Duquesne Union. Sanders, an experienced Africa diplomat and former U.S. ambassador to Nigeria and the Congo, has published her second book, The Rise of Africa's Small and Medium Size Enterprises: Spurring Development and Growing the Middle Class

See the best student work as chosen and juried by the Media Arts Faculty. This exhibit highlights outstanding projects from Foundations, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, and Photography.

-- Penguin Bookshop: Robert Morris University Special Event on Monday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in Hopwood Hall: Thomas Frank, author of Listen Liberal, or Whatever Happened to the Party of the People? will be available for book signings after the event.

--Men's Hockey AHA Semifinals - the Robert Morris Colonials face-off against Canisius in Rochester, N.Y Friday, March 17 at 4:35 p.m. Watch live here or listen on 970 ESPN. A win for the Colonials means they play in the championship this Sunday, March 18 at 7:05 p.m. in Rochester.

-- Women's Basketball NCAA First Round - the #16 Colonials take on #1 Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. TONIGHT! The NCAA Women's Tournament is broadcast on ESPN2.
