-- RMU-TV is nominated for a Pinnacle award for four-year TV station of the year. This category recognizes excellence in coverage, content and reporting, production quality, service to the campus community and innovative use of audio/video. RMU-TV had to submit three clips, each no longer than five minutes: one news, one entertainment and one station manager's choice. College Media Association's Pinnacle Awards honor the best college media organizations and individual work. The contest is open to student work produced for any college media organization, including print, broadcast and online outlets, during an academic year. 

UPCOMING EVENTS

-- Please join the Center for Global Engagement and School of Business in welcoming the fall 2017 RMU Rooney International Scholar Werner Kristjanpoller Tuesday, Sept. 5 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the Rooney House. Kristjanpoller received his Ph.D. in Business Studies at the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid in Spail, an MBA from UTFSM, and is an industrial engineer. His research and teaching interests are in the field of finance and economics, econometrcs, and the application of artificial intelligence to forecase financial assets. At RMU Kristjanpoller plans to conduct research on crypto currency behavior and the accuracy to predict the returns and volatility of Bitcoin, while collaborating with SBUS.

-- The Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) is again offering the Green Zone Ally Training for all Faculty and Staff.  The Training was detailed in the Faculty Planning Guide and will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Benjamin Rush Center classroom and Wednesday, Sept. 13 from 9 to 11 a.m. in Franklin Center Room 204. For the Tuesday training, there is a limit of 30 and Wednesday 20. Please email David Munn at munn@rmu.edu the day you’re interested in training at munn@rmu.edu. You will receive a nice certificate for your file and a placard for your office wall. Thank you for supporting our RMU Veterans.

-- The Center for Documentary Production & Study and Department of Media Arts cordially invite you to the Welcome Reception of Fall 2017 Visiting Documentary Filmmaker Rick Minnich Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the SCIS AtriumAt age 12, Minnich began making Super 8 films of his baby brother Ben, and has been making films ever since. In 1989, Minnich spent a semester in Vienna, Austria, and traveled extensively throughout Eastern and Western Europe. Minnich holds a BA in English from Columbia University and an MFA equivalent in film directing from the Film University "Konrad Wolf" in Potsdam-Babelsberg, Germany. 

During his stay at RMU, Minnich will screen some of his films, share his experiences as a filmmaker, and teach a documentary production class. He welcomes opportunities for class visits, screenings and engaging in other curricular and/or co-curricular activities across the University. To contact him, email minnich@rmu.edu.

THE RMU FOOTBALL COACHES SHOW PRESENTED BY FALCONI AUTOMOTIVE...and featuring Robert Morris head coach John Banaszak is on hiatus this week. It returns on Thursday (Sept. 7) at Cadillac Ranch (Settlers Ridge) at 7 pm. The Voice of the Colonials Chris Shovlin and Coach Banaszak are your hosts! The show airs live on the radio flagship for RMU Football, 970 AM and 106.3 FM ESPN Pittsburgh and on your mobile device via the iHeart Radio app. All fans are invited to attend the live broadcast at Cadillac Ranch!
