EDITOR'S NOTE -- The Minuteman in a Minute (Or So) video is on hiatus this week and is tentatively set to return next Friday on a bi-weekly (or so) schedule.  


--  The RMU Dance Team is traveling to Orlando, FL, right now for the UDA National Collegiate Dance Championships. This is the premier collegiate dance competition in the U.S. and is being held at Disney. 

-- RMU in the News has been updated with highlights of news media coverage of RMU in December. See why Yasmin Purohit, Steve Foreman, Phil Harold, and President Howard, among others, were in the news.


-- Ken Gargaro found much of his work highlighted in the press. A Lyrical Christmas, which he co-wrote, was performed by an RMU alum who runs the Sheboygan Theatre Company in Green Bay and reviewed here. The Post-Gazette also mentioned this play when it was performed at the Hazlett Theatre in Pittsburgh this year. The Hunchback of Notre Dame, a joint RMU/Pittsburgh Musical Theater production that Gargaro directed was mentioned in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette both here and here

-- Women's soccer head coach John Kowalski will be presented with the Walt Chyzowych Lifetime Achievement Award at a special ceremony January 20, 2018 in Philadelphia. The Walt Chyzowych Fund honors the memory and legacy of Walt Chyzowych, pioneering coach of both the U.S. National Soccer Team and the U.S. Olympic Soccer Team, who also served as Director of Coaching in the developmental years of the modern era of U.S. Soccer. 


-- RMU is hosting its annual Winter Blood Drive in partnership with Central Blood Bank on Wednesday, January 17, 2018, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the John Jay Gym. Walk-ins are welcome, but if you wish make an appointment please email Donna Anderson your cell phone number (required for online registration) and your preferred time. The entire donation process should take no more than one hour. 

-- The Massey Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation is proud to announce a call to students to compete in the Wicked Problem Innovation Hackathon in conjunction with the Massey E-Labs of 2017. Students from across all five schools are welcome to form interdisciplinary teams that will tackle this year's "wicked problem." Teams have a WEEK to explore the issue and develop an innovative idea by which to mitigate the societal effects of the water contamination. They will compete before an audience and judges to win prizes amounting to $100 for each member of the winning team. Faculty members can nominate a student by sending their name and email address to by January 18.

RMU BASKETBALL COACHES SHOW...featuring Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole is broadcast Mondays from Primanti Brothers Restaurant (8651 University Blvd) at 7 pm. All fans are welcome to attend, and food/drinks are on us. Co-hosting the show once again is the RMU Hall of Fame Voice of the Colonials Chris Shovlin. It will continue to air live each Monday at 7 pm through March 12 on the radio home for RMU Hoops, 970 AM ESPN Pittsburgh as well as on the iHeart Radio mobile app. The two shows in March will originate from The Hangar Sports Bar.

RMU HOCKEY COACHES SHOW...featuring Colonial head man Derek Schooley returns on Tuesday, Jan. 16, from The Hangar Sports Bar (500 Flaugherty Run Road) at 7 pm. Come out and get the inside scoop on Robert Morris Hockey from the coach as well as radio announcers Mike Prisuta and Tim Benz. The show will continue to air live each Tuesday thereafter at 7 pm through March 13 on the radio home for RMU Hockey, 970 AM ESPN Pittsburgh as well as on the iHeart Radio mobile app. All fans are welcome to attend! Free food and drinks!
