-- The RMU Island Sports Center was in the news this week as Olympic fans focus on the Pittsburgh Curling Club, which plays at the ISC every Saturday evening from fall through spring. And check out the best of last month's news coverage of the university in the most recent RMU in the News.

-- Speaking of the ISC, in case you missed it, check out photos of the RMU Skating Academy, who was invited by CBS Radio in Pittsburgh to participate in the PPG Princess Skate Downtown. The skating academy is led by Beth Sutton, director of figure skating at the Island. Learn more about our skating programs at rmu.edu/isc

UPCOMING EVENTS

-- This Presidents Day, our very own President Chris Howard will be narrating Aaron Copeland's Lincoln Portrait at 7 p.m. at Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall. Written in the dark days of WWII, this concert is an inspiring story that is now regular tradition at the Carnegie Library. You can purchase tickets for this event by clicking here: $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Students tickets $5.

-- The Enrollment Management Division is offering a professional development opportunity for RMU staff members to learn more about college affordability. Vice President Wendy Beckemeyer will present the modules in the College Affordability Academy®. The first session, which will cover Trends in Student Aid, How RMU Measures Up, and Loan Entrance Counseling, and is scheduled for Wednesday, March 21 from 10:00 – 12:00.  Session 2 will be held on April 4 from 10:00 – 12:00, Session 3 will be held on April 11from 10:00 – 12:00 and the Capstone Presentation and Luncheon will take place on April 26 from 12:00 – 2:00. All meetings will take place in Franklin 204, and the Capstone Presentation and Luncheon will take place in Franklin 203.

RMU BASKETBALL COACHES SHOW...featuring Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole resumes Monday, Feb. 12 from Primanti Brothers Restaurant (8651 University Blvd./Moon) at 7 pm. All fans are welcome to attend, and food/drinks are on us. Co-hosting the show is the RMU Hall of Fame Voice of the Colonials Chris Shovlin. It airs live each Monday at 7 through March 12 on the radio home for RMU Hoops, 970 AM ESPN Pittsburgh as well as on the iHeart Radio mobile app. The two shows in March will originate from The Hangar Sports Bar. 

RMU HOCKEY COACHES SHOW...featuring Colonial head man Derek Schooley continues on Tuesday, Feb. 13 from The Hangar Sports Bar (500 Flaugherty Run Road/Moon) at 7 pm. Come out and get the inside scoop on Robert Morris Hockey from the coach as well as radio announcers Mike Prisuta and Tim Benz. The show will continue to air live each Tuesday thereafter at 7 pm through March 13 on the radio home for RMU Hockey, 970 AM ESPN Pittsburgh as well as on the iHeart Radio mobile app. All fans are welcome to attend! Free food and drinks!
