-- MARCH MADNESS!

-- The School of Education and Social Sciences will hold its annual conference for educators, "Teaching and Learning in the 21st Century: Creating Innovative Classrooms," on Friday, March 20, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sewall Center. This year's keynote speaker is Kyle Peck, professor and research fellow in the College of Education at Penn State, co-director of the Center for Online Innovation in Learning, and principal investigator of NASA's Aerospace Education Services Project. Another feature of the event will be the release of the latest RMU Recommends reading list.

-- The Celebration of Women Luncheon takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, in the Executive Dining Room in the Sewall Center. Sylvia Pamboukian, associate professor of English, will examine royal weddings going back 200 years and also look at the history of the modern American wedding. Lunch is free, with a prize raffle of books highlighting the stories of women's lives to support RMU scholarships. New and gently used clothing will be collected to donate to the Shepherd's Heart Homeless Shelter. RSVP by March 10 to Renee Augostine at augostine@rmu.edu.

-- The next Roundtable will be held Wednesday, March 18, from 11:45 a.m. to 12:35 p.m. in Hale 309. Daria Crawley, associate professor of management, will be presenting "She’s Already Busy: Exploring the Dimensionality of Organizational Citizenship Behavior." All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend. The RMU Roundtable Series is sponsored by the University Honors Program, and is an occasional forum in which faculty can present on their research and topics of interest in an informal setting to students, faculty, and staff.

-- The Center for Global Engagement invites you to the 18th Annual International Dinner Wednesday, March 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the PNC Colonial Cafe.

-- The annual Women’s History Month luncheon will take place on Thursday, March 26, from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Sewall Center.  The keynote speaker will be Sabrina Saunders, executive director of Strong Women, Strong Girls - Pittsburgh. The mission of Strong Women, Strong Girls is to support positive mentoring relationships between college women and pre-adolescent girls in under-served local communities to help raise ambition and combat the dangers of low self-esteem. We will also present RMU’s annual Woman of Achievement award and recognize all of our outstanding student nominees.

The luncheon is free for students and $10 for faculty, staff, and guests. This year we invite you to host a table for up to six (6) students that you ask to be your guests. Whether you choose to host a table or not, please RSVP to the Office of Student Life at studentlife@rmu.edu no later than Monday, March, 23. Please indicate if you have any dietary restrictions or wish to request a vegetarian entree. If you are hosting a table, please provide our office with the list of students who will be joining you.
