Program Overview
Robert Morris University's School of Adult and Continuing Education (SACE) is proud to offer programs for nontraditional students in the Pittsburgh area. These programs have been designed specifically for individuals who have been out of high school for five years or more*.

In designing these programs, we sought input from both employers and nontraditional students. Both agreed that the most important skills necessary to be successful in today's corporate environment are communications, technology, interpersonal relations, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution and leadership. We took that information, combined it with our reputation as the leading provider of education to nontraditional students in the region, and created these innovative degrees to provide you with a solid foundation for success in today's job market.

You can choose one of four bachelor's degree programs:

You can also select a minor to provide additional focus to your degree.

If you've already earned your bachelor's degree, consider our Master of Science (M.S.) in Organizational Studies degree program, which is offered in both fully online and partially online (hybrid) formats. This degree offers concentrations in Leadership or Employee Relations. Our Professional Academy for Continuing Education (PACE) is a membership organization offering year-round professional development seminars. Programs fulfill continuing education credits for certified public accountants, certified financial planners, and other professionals.

*If you have been out of high school for less than five years, discuss an exception with a SACE enrollment counselor.

Program Format
We know that as a nontraditional student, you need a program that offers you the most convenient way to earn a degree. At RMU, you can earn your degree at your own pace, at a time that works best for you. Even if you have no previous college credits, you can complete a bachelor's degree in less than four years. How long it will take depends upon a number of things, including the number of credits you take each term and whether or not you can receive credit for your life experiences. If you have transfer credits, you may finish in considerably less time.

But you can enroll in less or more credits, depending on what best fits your life situation. Most of our nontraditional students take an average of nine credits per semester, but the programs are flexible to accommodate both part- and full-time students.

We offer partially online courses and totally online courses with no class meetings. We offer eight-week courses that meet once a week, from 6 to 10 p.m. or from 6 to 8 p.m. and 8 to 10 p.m. This allows you to enroll in two courses on the same evening for each eight-week session, giving you full-time student status while attending class just one night a week!

How you schedule your classes is up to you. Degree students can take classes on Saturdays, after work or online. You can attend classes at RMU's Center for Adult and Continuing Education in downtown Pittsburgh, the main campus in Moon Township or the Regional Learning Alliance at Cranberry Woods. You can attend full- or part-time. You can miss a semester if your life demands are too great. It's all up to you! We provide you with as many options as possible to suit your busy lifestyle.

A counselor will help you to design a personalized program completion plan that gives you complete control over your course load and desired graduation date. Your counselor will guide you every step of the way from inquiry through graduation (including registration and advisement), making it as convenient as possible for you to complete your degree.

About the Faculty
Robert Morris University offers you the best of both worlds. Your instructors will include full-time faculty as well as adjunct professors. Our faculty members practice what they teach, bringing real-world experience and knowledge to the classroom as well as the theoretical background you need.
