Selecting the right university can be a difficult decision. Often times, you realize that you need to change schools to one that more appropriately fits your needs. Perhaps you have completed your associate degree and are looking to complete your education with an accredited university. Robert Morris University can help make your transition as smooth as possible.

You may apply a maximum of 69 transfer credits, including up to 30 life experience (CLEP, PLA and/or ACE) credits, toward your degree program in the School of Adult and Continuing Education. You must complete your final 30 credits by taking RMU courses.

One of our experienced enrollment counselors can guide you through your options. You may be surprised to see how much credit you've already earned!

Transfer Credits
Students who wish to complete a bachelor's degree may have the opportunity to apply college credits toward their degree, provided they were earned at regionally or professionally accredited educational institutions. RMU holds matriculation agreements with most two-year educational institutions. Make an appointment with an enrollment counselor to evaluate your transcripts for transfer credits.

CLEP
The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a series of individual tests for various college-level courses. The tests provide the opportunity to gain college credit for knowledge acquired through independent study.

You may earn a maximum of 30 credits toward your degree by examination. You may not seek credit by examination for a course you completed at RMU with a grade of 'D' or 'F.' If you are interested in taking a CLEP examination, speak with an enrollment counselor to make sure you are taking the correct examination in order for credit to be applied toward your degree program.

American Council on Education (ACE)
If you have ever taken courses in the workplace or from training providers, completed a union apprenticeship program, earned a certification or served in the military, chances are you have earned possible college credit to apply toward your degree program. Find out how to join the thousands of adult learners who have used ACE credit recommendations to advance their personal and career goals by contacting an enrollment counselor today.

Prior Learning Assessment (PLA)
Robert Morris University believes that college-level knowledge, no matter how it is gained, warrants credit. If you have extensive knowledge in a subject that is taught at the college level, the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) process might be right for you.

Formerly known as portfolio assessment, PLA is a flexible, efficient way of earning credits for college-level knowledge you have gained outside the traditional classroom. It is a rewarding way to earn college credit because it acknowledges and validates the learning you have acquired in the workplace and in life. To determine if you are a good candidate to earn college credit through PLA, contact an enrollment counselor.
