HTMG3060 - International Tourism
Fall 2011

This course is an analysis of international trade in tourism and international travel dimensions. The course is focused on international travel patterns; the growth of tourism worldwide; trade and political relations involving governments and multinational corporations; and case studies of primary world tourist destinations. It aims to increase student understanding of the main actions and complexity of tourism internationally, and its critical role in international politics.

      International Tourism will focus on food and culture through course room assignments and field study. Field visits will be made to hotels restaurants, markets and tourism agencies. The goal will be to create a comparative study through journal assignments that connect students from one culture to another. Students who register for the course are required to go on the 2015 study abroad trip to Istanbul Turkey and Northern Cyprus May 10 2014 to May 24 2015. In preparation for the trip, the course will meet in the spring 2015 semester. Exact dates and location will be announced by the professor
