HSAM6010 - Health Policy Analysis

Fall 2013

What is the effect of gun control legislation on protecting the health of the public? How effective are air bags in cars? What sorts of policies promote access to care for people with little or no health insurance? How have Medicare HMOs affected beneficiaries' utilization of health services? These are the sorts of questions we want you to be able identify and evaluate health policies as a result of having taken this course. This course is designed to provide students the with necessary concepts, facts, and analytical skills to allow for a full understanding of the complicated issues found inherent to specific health care and public health policies. Descriptions of types of analyses and procedural application techniques provide the student with the capability to analyze the specific health policy issues of today and to be prepared for the future.
