MATH6100 - Sec Math Teacher Leadership I
Spring 2014

The purpose of this course is to support the building of learning communities within local school districts using a variety of research based tools including: 1. Video Cases for Mathematics Professional Development (VCMPD) which is a case-based methodology to investigate the complexities of mathematics teaching and learning that arise in real classroom situations. 2. The Mathematical Tasks Framework which is a representation of how the types of mathematical problems affect classroom instruction. 3. The Regional K-12 Mathematics Curriculum Framework which organizes the Pennsylvania Academic Standards for Mathematics to focus attention on a few "big ideas" of mathematics at each grade level. This course is intended for secondary certified mathematics teachers and will meet for five full days and five half days.
