CRMJ3010 - Community Based Corrections

Spring 2015

This course examines the growing trend in the US criminal justice system of having convicted offenders serve their sentences out of jails and prisons and on the streets with the general public. The history and philosophy behind this trend is examined as is the effect of these various alternatives to incarceration on: 1.) recidivism, 2.) the lives and outcomes for offenders, 3.) diverse groups, and 4.) corrections professionals and organizations.
Prerequisite: CRMJ1010
