Mitchell joined the RMU faculty in 2003 after serving as an assistant professor at Baylor University. His research in mathematics is motivated by problems in theoretical physics. The ultimate goal of this work can be described as the construction of a suitable integration theory on infinite dimensional manifolds. Mitchell earned his master's and doctoral degrees in mathematics from Cornell University.
