ELIT2030 - African Amer Lit & Experience
Fall 2010 The course focuses on texts created by African Americans which reflect the diverse thoughts, beliefs, customs, struggles, achievements, and visions of African American writers. This course teaches students the process of close reading, analysis, and interpretation of literature and invites students to make connections between literature and their experiences. The course stresses in-depth reading and concentrates on the interrelationships of literary works and the social and cultural values and beliefs reflected in and affected by those works. Some attention is given to the terminology basic to literary study and to the place of literature in a well-rounded education. The course is designed for students without prior coursework in literature. Prerequisite: COSK1221 3 Credits |
