Colonials Ranked 14th in CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Poll
 
The Robert Morris University men’s basketball team, off to its best start in school history with an overall record of 5-1, garnered its first national ranking in the collegesinsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 poll this week by being ranked No. 14 in the latest poll. RMU, not ranked in any of the previous polls by collegeinsider.com, made the second highest debut in the poll at No. 14. Butler, off to a perfect 9-0 start, jumped all the way to No. 1.

The Colonials are coming off a 73-72 win over Duquesne (12/2/06) and open Northeast Conference action when they travel to Fairfield, Conn., for a 7:00 p.m. contest with Sacred Heart Thursday, Dec. 7. RMU will also visit Wagner Saturday, Dec. 9, for a noon tipoff that will be broadcast live on MSG as part of its road trip to open conference play. Under the guidance of sixth-year head coach Mark Schmidt, Robert Morris has been led by senior forward A.J. Jackson (Monessen, Pa. / Monessen), a two-time NEC Player of the Week who is averaging 20.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, both tops in the conference.
