Course Description

This course is designed to give actuarial science students a general understanding of the life insurance industry, and the various roles of actuaries within life insurance companies. The course includes both technical topics (profit testing, Monte Carlo simulation, pricing of embedded options) as well as non-technical topics (organization of life insurance companies, taxation and regulation of life insurance companies). Though much of the material in the course applies generally to life insurance companies, this course will focus mostly on the insurance industry in the United States. This course builds on the material covered in ASCI4100 Life Contingencies I and ASCI4110 Life Contingencies II.

Prerequisite: ASCI4110
