Course Details

This course does not pretend to "teach" students to become leaders. Only the students can teach themselves to become leaders through self-assessment, personal development, continuous learning, practice and experience. This course teaches "what" Leadership is and "what it requires from the leader, "why" it is important and "when" it is useful. Students who register for the course are required to attend class and go on the 2017 study abroad program to Spain May 8-May 20, 2017. Course Description

This course is a thorough study of the basic principles of leadership in management, with emphasis on creative thinking for decision making and problem solving within the Hospitality and Tourism industries. The functions of managers and principles of effective communication at all levels of management are carefully examined. Special attention is given to the need for constant self-development and improvement, using current industry problems.
