ACharlieBrown

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Charlie Brown Christmas is an app designed for kids 6 to 8 years of age. It uses the original voice of Charlie Brown to narrate the story, which is a little long. However, children can decorate a Christmas tree, play a keyboard, and select animations for characters as the book is read.

MerryChristmasMom

Merry Christmas Mom and Dad

This app brings the classic Merry Christmas Mom and DadMercer Mayer book to life. It would appeal to children 2 to 5 years of age. The app allows you the option of personalizing the narration with your own voice. Note that there are few animations to this app.

Frozen

Frozen

This year Frozen is everywhere and their storybook app is fabulous! While the story is being read, you can rotate the iPad to switch between Elsa’s or Anna’s story narrative or perspective. (It resets when the page is turned or swiped.) The app also includes clips from the movie, I liked the Olaf clip, and two activities – a puzzle and snow globe drawing/swiping.

ReadingRainbow

Reading Rainbow

The Reading Rainbow app is similar to the tv program. It asks users their reading preferences (adventure, classics, sci-fi, etc.) and places free or purchased books to be read on various islands (based on your indicated preferences). With a subscription fee, there is a wider selection of books including holiday selections. There are a few animations within the books, along with video clips, games, and puzzles. Books are available for a wide age range.
