Business: Robert Morris University Business | Robert Morris University

Undergraduate

The world of business has undergone significant changes in the past ten years, driven by advances in technology, new global challenges, and the transformation of the banking and finance industry.

With these changes, RMU saw an opportunity to embrace a business worldview that would fuse our current ethics instruction with technology. The result is that RMU, which is already one of the top business schools in Pennsylvania, now has an undergraduate business program that provides graduates with everything that they need to enter the business world in virtually every industry.

A curriculum that focuses on globalization and ethics

The RMU business program has always been grounded in an ethical approach and has grown to incorporate a global outlook and worldview. Our instruction for any financial or business-oriented coursework or practicum has included using ethical behavior and practices to govern decisions stemming from everyday situations and less typical circumstances.

This program also stresses international business skills—including communication and relationship building—that will enable students to interact with their counterparts around the globe.

RMU has seven majors that fall under the undergraduate business program:

Each major focuses on core skills and fundamental practices, combined with practical knowledge and integrated technology that provides students a distinct advantage for their entire career.

The Tools of Business

In every business course our students are able to use real-world examples and strategies that bring them closer to actual business settings and situations. They include:

  • experiential learning strategies
  • internships
  • simulations
  • case studies
  • strategic plans
  • business-related technology

The RMU campus has greatly expanded over the past decade and upgraded all technology so that student will have hands-on Wall Street and financial trading experience. Our business resources include:

  • The U. S. Steel Videoconferencing and Technology Resource Center, a corporate training facility where students can learn new software programs and database skills that are propelling modern organizations.
  • The PNC Trading Center, which simulates the NYSE floor and features a trading room as well as workstations where students can observe trading floor action.
  • The ATI Center and Interactive Marketing Wall, which contains sophisticated computer stations and online research programs, that allows students to access the latest financial and market information—just as they would at any financial center or company in an entry-level or advanced position.

Each of these areas contains technology and information that graduates are likely to encounter—whether it’s on Wall Street or in a local office—and then be expected to demonstrate with hands-on proficiency.
