Will Miley looked for two things when searching for the right college: someplace close to his home in Kennedy Township and someplace with a good reputation for business. Lucky for him, Robert Morris University was right down the road.

Miley earned his B.S.B.A. in Marketing in 2013 and had a job waiting for him as a district manager at Automatic Data Processing (ADP). He learned about ADP at the annual RMU Career Expo, where he met an ADP recruiter.

“I met Casey Brady at the Career Expo my junior year,” says Miley. “We kept in touch and I met her again at the expo my senior year. I had an interview the following week and that interview came with a job offer with ADP.”

As a district manager, Miley oversees a team of sales representatives. Their duties are to call current customers to sell them additional ADP services, including worker’s compensation, retirement plans, time and labor management, payment solutions, and health insurance.

Recently, Miley won a trip to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas for being one of ADP’s top performers. He also won a trip to Bermuda thanks to hitting his sales goal for the year by March.

Miley credits Robert Morris for his success at ADP, which was one of two companies that offered him a job before he had graduated last year. He tips his hat to marketing professors Jill Maher and Steve Clinton.

“Jill assisted me in finding (and eventually landing) my internship with Nabisco, which led to a job offer directly after graduation. Although I decided to go with ADP, I feel my internship experience really helped me get the position. I had one class with Steve Clinton and it was the hardest class I took at RMU. I can honestly say I learned more in that class than any other in college,” says Miley. “Both Jill and Steve were more than willing to talk after class to discuss class projects and assignments, as well as helping me find a job after graduation.”

However, it wasn’t all work and no play for Miley at RMU. He played club volleyball for two years and intramural basketball for four years. He was also a member of the American Marketing Association and was chosen to participate in the case study competition in New Orleans, paid for by the university.

“RMU showed me that if you work hard and take advantage of all of the events RMU provides in order to network with new people, you will have a very good chance of landing a job upon graduation,” says Miley.
