Where to Eat
Students at RMU can choose among several dining options.
On Campus
Throughout the day students gather for meals at the University’s Food Court and the Marketplace, which offer convenient hours and a wide selection of foods. Both are located near the middle of campus in Nicholson Center.
The Food Court is a cafeteria-like setting that seats around 350. You have your choice from among more than half a dozen food stations with offerings like pizza, stir-fry, salad and sandwiches from the grill. You can grab your food to go or, if the weather’s nice, take your meal to one of several outdoor eating areas.
The Marketplace is a trendy café with TVs, a lounge area and fireplace and a glass wall that overlooks the tree tops and rolling hills of central campus. You can buy a sandwich or a made-to-order salad to eat at the café or get some pretzels, chips or fresh vegetables to take back to your room for later. You can also visit the gourmet coffee bar for some hot chocolate or espresso.
Paying for Your Food
You can choose to pay cash for your meals or sign up for one of the University’s semester-long meal plans. An average meal with a drink runs about $5.50. If you buy a meal plan you pay by swiping your Freedom Card.
Cooking for Yourself
Residents of Concord and Lexington halls have access to a full kitchen, including a refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and garbage disposal. Students in other residence halls can bring their own microwaves and mini-fridges.
A shopping plaza within easy walking distance allows students to buy groceries and other necessities.
Restaurants
There are dozens of restaurants within a short drive of campus, including everything from fast food to high-end dining for special occasions. And downtown Pittsburgh, only 17 miles away, offers even more options.
