The Massey Center for Business Innovation and Development at Robert Morris University, launched by grants from the Massey Charitable Trust and the Wherrett Memorial Fund of the Pittsburgh Foundation, was founded in 2000 to provide the tools and support that Southwestern Pennsylvania's entrepreneurs need to start-up and manage new businesses. The Massey Center is housed in the School of Business at Robert Morris University. The Massey Center follows the mission of the School of Business by providing curricula that are responsive to the needs of business and industry as well as aspiring and existing entrepreneurs in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.

The Massey Center has developed specialized courses for veterans, as well as members of the National Guard and Reserve Forces as part of its commitment to veteran entrepreneurs. This training is reinforced through the services of the VBOC (Veterans Business Outreach Center), which provides counseling, mentoring and referrals to assist veterans with business start-ups and growth.

The Massey Center also offers specialized courses tailored to fit the needs of emerging communities in Southwestern Pennsylvania. MCBID is expanding its program offerings to stimulate business development by utilizing the vast resources available at Robert Morris University along with numerous resource partners. The Massey Center seeks new community involvement, funding and resource partners to assist us with our goals.

"At a time when pressures of mergers and acquisitions make corporations increasingly footloose, colleges and universities have remained one of the few enduring urban institutions-institutions that can serve as economic anchors for the revitalization of our cities."

-Paul S. Grogan, President, CEOs for Cities, a national organization consisting of clusters of community leaders, university administrators, and business executives.
