Additional Instructions for Parents and Guests Attending the 2009 RMU Commencement Ceremonies
To ensure you do not miss any of the commencement ceremonies, we encourage you to be prepared with at least two alternative routes for arriving and departing our campus throughout the day. The stretch of road from the Route 60 - Business Route 60 split to University Blvd will be very congested with traffic entering the parking area for the open house. It is highly recommended that you not trust that route either during the morning or late afternoon.
Here are several other ways to approach the campus from points to the North, East, and South.
Traveling to the RMU Campus
From the East or South (Parkway West or I-79)
From the Parkway West, take the I-79 North (Erie) exit and travel to Exit 68 (Coraopolis). Travel through Coraopolis, past the Sewickley Bridge exit, to University Blvd and RMU.
From the East and South (Parkway West)
From the Parkway West, REMAIN on Route 60 (following the signs to Beaver and the Airport). Stay on Route 60 past the airport to Exit 99 for Flaugherty Run Road and Business Route 60. Turn left onto University Blvd and straight to RMU.
From the Northeast (Route 28)
Take Route 65 north from downtown to Sewickley. Travel across the Sewickley Bridge. Turn right after the bridge to University Blvd and RMU.
From the North (Cranberry)
Travel south on I-79 and exit at Neville Island. Travel through the Island on Grand Avenue towards Coraopolis. Turn right onto Route 51 and travel through Coraopolis, past the Sewickley Bridge exit to University Blvd and RMU.
From the Northwest (Beaver)
Travel south on Route 60 and take the Moon (Business Route 60). Turn left onto University Blvd and straight to RMU.
Departing the RMU Campus
To the East or South or North (Cranberry)
From the main campus exit, turn right onto University Blvd and head toward Coraopolis. Take the Sewickley Bridge to Route 65 and head south. Several alternatives using this route include:
- Merging onto I-79 north (Cranberry) or south (Parkway West or I-79).
- Turn left onto Camp Horne Road and proceed to I-279 (Parkway North)
- Remain on Route 65 into the city or Route 28.
To the Northwest (Beaver)
From the main campus exit, turn right onto University Blvd to the bottom of the hill. Turn left on Stoops Ferry Road to Route 51. Either stay on Route 51 or turn left at Route 151 to Route 60 and points north.
