The Academic Media Center at the Moon Township Campus supports the Media Arts and Communications Department classes with one of the largest studios and broadcast control rooms in the area. Students have access to a wide range of field and studio equipment using MINI-DV and DVCPRO formats. On the postproduction side, several AVID and FINAL CUT PRO nonlinear edit stations support a wide range of student projects ranging from documentary, narrative and experimental programs.
Through the Academic Media Center, students receive extensive hands-on opportunities outside the classroom. They write and produce live television news, sports, entertainment and public affairs programs that are cablecast throughout campus and on Comcast and Moon Community Access TV.
The Academic Media Center also provides media services and produces several sporting and cultural event productions for the university both on campus and throughout Western Pennsylvania. Combining the skill of professional staff, students are exposed to real world experiences and opportunities.
In the Fall of 2007 the Academic Media Center will launch RMU-Radio. This will be a state-of-the-art, web-based radio facility. RMU-Radio will offer programming and teaching opportunities for RMU students.
