Department of Organizational Studies

Organizational Studies is an interdisciplinary program in a growing field that examines work behavior at the individual, group and organizational levels. Students integrate knowledge of human relations with an understanding of the fundamental operations of a company. It appeals to career-minded students who want to assume managerial roles in corporate and not-for-profit settings.

Becoming an effective leader begins with recognizing the dimensions of leadership: not only the rational and structured, but also the intuitive and personality-driven qualities.

The B.S. in Organizational Studies degree program provides a foundation in leadership, interpersonal relationships, diversity, organizational ethics and communications. As a multidisciplinary field of study, the major prepares students for a variety of career options, such as career counselor, community outreach coordinator, training manager, customer service manager, employee relations representative, social worker, employment counselor, human resource manager, operations manager, personnel manager, program manager and recruiter.

The M.S. in Organizational Studies is offered totally online, or hybrid, and appeals to working adults who aspire to a leadership position. Students gain analytical skills with applied knowledge of how to improve organizations using such tools as conflict resolution, leadership building, problem solving, and diversity awareness.
