Robert Morris University's School of Education and Social Sciences is designed to blend the two disciplines that make up the school name. The school comprises the departments of Secondary Education and Graduate Studies, Elementary Education and Social Sciences. The combination of these disciplines and departments into one school provides enhanced opportunities for students to develop expertise in their specialization. The school also provides its graduates with a comprehensive understanding of the teaching and social sciences. The Instructional Management & Leadership Doctoral Program offers candidates the opportunity to complete their educational journey toward their terminal degree.
The mission of the School of Education and Social Sciences at Robert Morris University is to assure the success of students and graduates by providing learning opportunities which build upon the liberal arts and are continually improved as society, schools, and technology change. The school's programs prepare graduates who possess the necessary knowledge, skills, behaviors, and attitudes to function in a competent and ethical manner, both personally and professionally.
The Board of Visitors for the School of Education and Social Sciences is comprised of alumni, educational representatives, and leaders from the business community. The primary mission of the BOV is to link the School's academic departments and programs with their professional communities. Thus, the board assists the dean of the school in these areas: advising on matters related to the School, planning curricula and projects, assisting with the establishment of community relationships and partnerships, and providing monetary resources to support the school's plans and programs via the Dean's Fund for Excellence.
Listed below are the members of the Board of Visitors that have been instrumental in making progressive changes to SESS, and their many contributions are greatly appreciated:
