What it is

Issuu.com is a digital publishing platform where you can upload PDFs and transform them into slickly-animated, interactive documents.

How it works

After opening your free Issuu account, get started by clicking the big blue "Upload" button at the top of the screen.  Choose the PDF you want to upload and fill in the document details on the provided form.  You will have an opportunity to edit the document before publishing.

We uploaded the Bayer Center's Spring 2013 Course Catalog as a test document.  We can report that the document editing interface is fairly intuitive and easy to use.

How to use it

Any PDF can be published on Issuu, but what people seem to publish most frequently are PDFs for which they'd like to offer a realistic, page-turning reading experience:  catalogs, magazines, journals, newspapers, etc.

How much it costs

If you aren't bothered by some ads in the right sidebar, the Free version works well.  With a Free account, you get 1 TB of bandwidth and 1 GB of storage.  If you need more than this, a Pro account costs $19/month, giving you unlimited bandwidth, 15 GB of storage and no ads.
