Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training at La Roche College  

La Roche College invites college graduates and working professionals to participate in an innovative opportunity, "Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training" offering a starting point for an exciting career in aid and development. Partnering with RedR UK, one of the world’s premier training organizations, La Roche’s program will develop these core competencies:

  • Understanding human rights and humanitarian contexts, principles and law
  • Working collaboratively to achieve results
  • Ensuring safety and security under conditions of pressure and change

The Training Program offers:

  • Two-week online pre- and post-trainings, providing initial assessment, orientation to key concepts and ideas, and program follow-up
  • Two-week intensive on-campus training, using simulations and other applied skills training, field visits to humanitarian aid organizations, RedR UK training, and guest lectures by experienced professionals
  • Field experience opportunities and college/graduate credits available

Tuition is $2,750 before March 15, and $3,100 after March 15.

  • Concepts of globalization and development and connecting emergency aid to development
  • How to enter the humanitarian field
  • Understanding humanitarian guidelines and international agreements
  • Simulations and collaborative work
  • Connections to field experience after completion
  • Trip to Washington, D.C., visiting USAID and other important institutions in the humanitarian field
  • Apple iPad with all class readings and important documents for the field - including weblinks and apps for collaboration
  • Evening and weekend activities and outings
  • Undergraduate or graduate credit available
