Pittsburgh -- Rex Crawley, head of the Department of Communication at Robert Morris University, will take part in the first Diversity and Inclusion Conference on Thursday, Oct. 22, at PNC Park.
The event is sponsored by the Western Pennsylvania Diversity Initiative, which aims to promote regional economic growth by providing resources to employers in the Pittsburgh region to attract, hire, and retain employees from a variety of diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
Crawley, an associate professor of communication, will take part in two sessions at the day-long event: A Day in the Life, from 9:45 to 11 a.m., and University Best Practices in Diversity, from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During A Day in the Life, Crawley will join other speakers in discussing life experiences from the perspective of various cultural and ethnic groups.
RMU President Gregory G. Dell'Omo will be featured in a video at the event, along with several other Pittsburgh-area college and university presidents, discussing the importance of equity and inclusion at their campuses.
Crawley is the chairman of the newly formed Council on Institutional Equity at RMU. He also is assistant dean of the School of Communications and Information Systems.
