Nonprofit entrepreneur Ami Dar to speak at TechNow conference 

Pittsburgh -- Ami Dar, the founder and executive director of Idealist.org, will be the keynote speaker at the TechNow 2009 conference on Thursday, Oct. 29, at Robert Morris University in Moon Township.

Built in 1996 with $3,500, Idealist.org has become one of the most popular nonprofit resources on the web. The nonprofit portal site gets its content from 90,000 organizations around the world, and sees 70,000 visitors every day.

Dar, a leading social entrepreneur, is an Ashoka Fellow and currently serves on the boards of the Nonprofit Finance Fund and Allforgood.org. He will speak at 2:15 p.m. in the International Suite of RMU’s Sewall Center.

Organized by RMU’s Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management, TechNow is the region’s premier conference devoted to new and important trends and opportunities in technology for nonprofits. The conference gets underway at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m. All events take place in the Sewall Center.

Other highlights this year include breakout sessions on green computing practices, user-friendly website design, information analysis, and web accessibility.
