Pair of Colonials Grab CHA Honors 

Moon Township, Pa. -- Two Colonials have been awarded with post-season College Hockey America honors, as senior goalie Brianne McLaughlin (Sheffield Village, Ohio/Ohio Flames) landed a spot on the CHA First Team and freshman Brianna Delaney (Sittsville, Ontario/NCCP Raiders) was named to the CHA All-Rookie team. McLaughlin’s honor marks her second consecutive appearance on the league’s first team and fourth career CHA postseason honor.

McLaughlin finished the year with a 9-16-3 record, including two shutouts. Over the course of the season she compiled 942 saves and a .917 save percentage, which one of the top averages in the conference. This year she became the NCAA Division I all-time career saves leader with 3,782 and recently earned a spot to participate in the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge. She accumulated four 50-plus save games, with two of them leading to impressive wins over Minnesota and CHA rival Wayne State. The Ohio native was awarded with two CHA weekly honors by the league and was also named USCHO.com National Defensive Player of the Week once during the season.

Delaney made her presence known from the start of season and finished the year leading the Colonials with 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points, making her the 13th best rookie point scorer in the nation. Her 30 points makes her the all-time leader for rookies scoring at RMU and she also broke a season record for points and goals in a single season.

Throughout the season she accumulated seven multi-point games and scored at least one point in 18 contests. She was named CHA Rookie of the Week twice and CHA Offensive Player of the Week once during the year.

The CHA All-Academic Team has also been announced and RMU led all schools with 15 players on the team. In order to earn a spot on the team the student-athlete must maintain a GPA of at least 3.0, must have completed at least one year of residency at her current institution prior to this year and must be both academically and athletically eligible to compete.
