Nonprofit Leadership Alliance

RMU partners with Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA), formerly American Humanics, a national professional development organization, to offer the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) certification preparing undergraduate and graduate students for entry-level professional positions in the nonprofit sector. The program includes class work, non-credit workshops led by RMU's Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management, a 300-hour service experience internship, participation in the NLA Student Association and attendance at one NLA Management/Leadership Insitute held in a different city each January. For more information, continue reading and click on the following link: www.humanics.org

Class Work and Non-credit Workshops
Students demonstrate nationally established professional competencies essential to a successful career in the nonprofit sector through core classes, electives, and non-credit workshops designed specifically for NLA students and offered by RMU’s Bayer Center for Nonprofit Management.

Service Experience Internship
A 300-hour service experience internship at a nonprofit organization gives students the opportunity to demonstrate the professional competencies learned in the classroom. Students can apply for a highly competitive, nationally granted stipend of $4,500 to accompany their internship ($15.00/hour).

Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Student Association
Students actively participate in the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance Student Association, a campus club chartered by RMU's Student Government Association,  to further develop leadership skills, engage in community service, and expand their networks.

Alliance Management/Leadership Institute
Each student attends one Alliance Management/Leadership Institute (conference) as a capstone experience. Held in a different city each January, the event brings together students, faculty, and nonprofit professionals from across the country for a four-day symposium that includes nationally recognized speakers, workshops, case studies, placement interviews, and networking opportunities.
