NEWS
-- Former Sentry News Editor Kevin Williams has been selected to serve as the media liaison for the Middle States accreditation process during the spring 2010 semester. Williams aspires to be a broadcast journalist and views this experience as an opportunity to generate news content for cross-media platforms. Williams' primary assignment is to interview and photograph each of the 100 volunteers for the Middle States effort for a spotlight feature story, and cover the committee's meetings and prepare stories for various campus publications.
-- Four RMU students were recently selected for this year’s Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (PSO) PNC Pops! All Star College Chorus. Under the direction of Robert Page, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra partners with local colleges and universities every year to form this one of a kind singing group.
Samantha Koch, English; Nikki Rodgers, manufacturing engineering; Brad Perciavalle, actuarial science; and Paul Berard, finance, were chosen to be part of this unique mixture of college singers, which will be performing in the symphony’s production of "Broadway Rocks!" February 25-28 at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh and March 1 at West Virginia University. Click here for more information.
--In support of RMU Olympian Brianne McLaughlin, Clearview Federal Credit Union has established the Brianne McLaughlin Olympic Fund. McLaughlin set an NCAA record with 3,809 saves during her RMU hockey career. Now she’s a goalie for Team USA.
Her mom and dad plan to go cheer for her in Vancouver. But the travel, hotel, expenses and game tickets will cost thousands of dollars. Donations to the “Brianne McLaughlin Olympic Fund” will help the McLaughlins be with their daughter as she represents our nation -- and RMU.
If you would like to make a donation, please make your check payable to the Brianne McLaughlin Olympic Fund. Donations can be dropped off at the Alumni House or sent interoffice mail to Mary Gerard, Alumni Office.
