RMU Student to Perform with National Band
Moon Township, Pa. -- Robert Morris University (RMU) student Andrew Schiren has been named to the College Band Directors National Association Small College Intercollegiate Band. He is the first RMU student to achieve this honor.
Schiren, who plays the euphonium, is a senior accounting major and a graduate of McGuffey High School in Washington, Pa. He was nominated to the national band by Elisabeth Charles, the director of bands at RMU. Schiren was one of 90 band members selected to perform out of approximately 200 applicants.
“Andrew is a very talented musician and a young man of excellent character. Participating in the Small College Intercollegiate Band will give him an opportunity to broaden his musical skills,” said Charles.
The band will perform at the University of Texas during the College Band Directors National Association’s annual conference March 24-28.
“I feel very privileged for the opportunity to be a representative of RMU at such a prestigious event. I’ve always wanted to be a part of a concert band and being nominated and chosen couldn’t be a better way to end my senior semester,” said Schiren.
