Academic Misconduct

All students are expected to conduct themselves in accordance with a dedication to academic excellence and a commitment to ethical principles. It is the responsibility of the members of the current and future university community to uphold those principles through their dedicated work and through a pervasive commitment to academic integrity.

Cheating, plagiarism, forgery or other forms of academic misconduct are not tolerated. It is the responsibility of each student to ensure that his/her study and participation in the academic process is so conducted that there can be no question concerning his/her integrity. Faculty members have the responsibility of conducting their courses in a manner to foster academic integrity.

Unless specifically exempted, examinations, quizzes, laboratory practicum, case studies, research, papers, projects and other assignments are expected to be the work of the individual student. Any use of ideas, data, or wording of another person must include explicit acknowledgment of the source. Failure to give such credit is plagiarism. Any alteration or fabrication of clinical data, falsification of student logs or otherwise inaccurately reporting actual participation in an assignment are examples of academic misconduct in the clinical area. Any alteration or fabrication of experimental data would be considered academic misconduct in research. In addition, intentionally aiding another student in such activities is also academic misconduct. Unauthorized communication or use of unauthorized materials during an examination constitutes academic misconduct as well.

Students are encouraged to cooperate and assist in the prevention of cheating and plagiarism. Academic misconduct will result in disciplinary action as deemed appropriate, including suspension and/or expulsion from the School and the University.
