Attention Parents & Families of Current Resident Students:
Important Spring 2009 Information!

Each November we ask our resident students to think about their plans for the upcoming spring term and provide them with information regarding their housing and meal plans.   The following information has already been shared with resident students via E-mail, postings on campus, and the campus publication RMU Talks, but we wanted to be certain that we continue to keep parents and families informed as we begin to prepare for the Spring 2009 semester.

Meal Plan Changes
If your student is interested in changing his/her meal plan for the spring semester, he/she should stop by the Residence Life Office to complete the appropriate form.   All meal plan changes must be requested in writing by Friday, January 9, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.

Room Changes
If your student would like to consider room changes for the spring semester, he/she should contact their Area Coordinator in the Residence Life Office to discuss the options available.   All room changes for the spring semester must be completed prior to the close of the fall term, Saturday, December 13, 2008.

Not Returning to Housing
Please note that as housing contracts are for a complete academic year, all students with a fall housing contract will automatically be billed for spring semester housing.  If, for any reason, your student is not returning to housing in the spring term, he/she must submit a Request for Release from Housing Form in the Residence Life Office by December 1, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.  Please note that students with fewer than 30 earned academic credits at the close of the fall term will be assessed a forfeiture fee of 35% of the spring housing charge for any cancellation in violation of the campus residency requirement.  Those students with fewer than 30 credits leaving housing to commute from the residence of a parent/guardian will be required to submit a signed parent/guardian letter verifying their residency.

Winter Break
The residence halls will be secured for the winter break on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 5:00 p.m.  Although students are welcome to leave belongings in their rooms during this time, they are encouraged to take any valuables home with them for safekeeping.  Move-in for the spring semester is scheduled for Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the Sewall Center.

We hope you find this information helpful
as your student makes plans for the spring term.

Attention Parents & Families of Current Commuter Students:
Is Your Student Tired of Commuting?

If your student is interested in becoming a resident student for the spring 2009 term, the time to act is now!  The spring 2009 housing contracts are available via the website at www.rmu.edu/residencelife.  Spaces are available and the assignment process will begin shortly for the spring semester.  Students should submit the housing contract and a $100 housing deposit to receive an assignment for the spring term.
