-- RMU SESS alum Dana Davis has been selected as a national winner of the KinderCare Education Legacy Award. She is one of seven KinderCare teachers nationally to earn the award, which honors instructors for their commitment to creative teaching, inspiring curiosity among students, and setting the standard for excellence in education. It comes with a cash prize and all-expenses-paid trip to be recognized at KinderCare’s National Support Center in Portland, Ore.


-- Ben Campbell, assistant professor of engineering, has earned both professional and personal achievements recently. First he was elected to the Pine Richland School Board. Then he received a $14,000 research grant by MECCO, a local laser marking company who is sponsoring research at RMU to help them develop a new line of laser welding machines to expand their product line. They considered many other potential partners for this project and chose RMU due to our talent and capabilities. 

-- Timothy Hadfield, professor of media arts, had part of his sabbatical work titled, "An Exhibition About Blindness Engages All the Senses," published in Hyperallergeric

-- Janene Szpak and Kirstyn Kameg presented at the annual American Psychiatric Nurses Association conference in Phoenix, AZ on Educating Nursing Students on Intimate Partner Violence: Knowledge Integration from Classroom Theory and a Standardized Patient Simulation Experience. They also had 2 poster presentations:

  • Kameg, K., Kaufmann, J., & Szpak, J.Access to Interprofessional Mental Health Education (AIME): Process and Outcomes of Multi-Disciplinary Standardized Patient Simulation Experiences
  • Speeney, N., Kameg, K., Cline, T., Szpak, J., & Bagwell, B. Impact of Standardized Patient Simulation on Undergraduate Nursing Student Knowledge and Competency on the Care of a Patient Diagnosed with Schizophrenia


-- Join fellow Colonials at the inaugural Breakfast with Santa! This family-friendly event includes holiday crafts, games, and a picture with the Jolly Old Elf. Swing by Yorktown on Saturday, December 9 at 8:30 a.m. to join in on the festivities. Reservations are required as seating is limited.

Donate a non-perishable food item which we'll in turn donate to West Hills Food Pantry and get postgame autographs from the team!

...The RMU Athletic Department has partnered with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve on this annual community outreach program every year since 2008 collecting hundreds of toys for area youths thanks to the generosity of many Colonial fans. Collection bins on campus are located in Joe Walton Stadium (first floor main lobby), Wheatley Center (main lobby), Massey Hall (main lobby), Jefferson Center (RMU Center for Veterans and Military Families), Island Sports Center (main lobby), Nicholson Center (across from Admissions Office) and Hale Center (inside third floor doors facing Franklin Center). Please be generous by donating a new unwrapped toy. Or better yet bring a new unwrapped toy to any or all of these Robert Morris "Toys for Tots" home games and get in free!
