-- Valerie Howard, associate professor of nursing, has been named assistant dean, external affairs, for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. She is also director of the Regional Research and Innovation in Simulation Education Center at RMU.

-- During the spring semester, 21 RMU students teamed up with the Pittsburgh Penguins to raise money for the Holy Family Institute, which helps children and families struggling with abuse, behavioral and emotional issues, and learning disorders. The students collected items and volunteered at the Charity ASSIST Raffle held at CONSOL Energy Center during the Penguins playoff game April 13 against the Philadelphia Flyers. The raffle raised more than $13,000 for Holy Family Institute.The students were:

-- Ann Jabro, university professor of communication, presented two research papers at the European Geoscience Union International Conference in Vienna, Austria. The Research Center for the Management of Agricultural and Environmental Risks awarded "Perfecting Scientists' Collaboration and Problem-Solving Skills in the Virtual Team Environment" the Best Poster Award in the Contemporary Education in a New Technological World session.  Michael Mayer served as Chairman of the Poster Session.
