NURS4014 - Community Hlth/Hlth Promotion

Spring 2018

The focus of this course is to provide the student with a broad introduction to community health and the role of the nurse within the community setting. Students will examine nursing knowledge, incorporating concepts of epidemiology, populations, and levels of prevention, health promotion, disaster management, hospice/palliative care, and health care systems. The health care needs of selected at-risk or vulnerable populations and aggregated needs of the community will be reviewed. Students will participate in an outpatient or community-based clinical setting and complete simulation based activities in order to apply concepts from NURS4015 course.
Prereqisites: NURS3020; Co-requisites: NURS4013
