PHIL1000-A Survey Of World Religions (Spring 2013)

Course Details

This course is connected to the Morocco, Spain and England trip to run from May 5th to May 22nd. Students who plan to participate in the trip are required to take the course; students may take the course and not go on the trip. The cost of the trip is in addition to tuition. There are regularly scheduled class meeting times as well as significant online interaction and assignments. Students must arrange for daily access to a computer and the Internet prior to the start of classes.

Course Description

Survey of World Religions explores the basic nature of religion by examining the major "living" world religions and their cultural manifestations. Close attention will be paid to the various religions' doctrine, symbols, stories, institutions, and rituals. Emphasis will be placed on understanding and appreciating the diversity of religious belief and experience throughout the world. 3 credits
