This is a laboratory/field course that exposes students to the appropriate use, calibration and design of portable field equipment used to monitor the quality of geologic systems. Students become familiar with the operation of the equipment in field and laboratory settings. Use of fixed semi-permanent and permanent field stations are utilized to provide hands-on demonstrations of equipment use. Students quantify data collected and prepare reports relevant to the collection methods utilized and in compliance with the industry and governmental standards applicable to the system analyzed.
