Course Description

This course explores the various ways historians research, preserve and present historical topics to public aduiences ouside of the traditional classroom. It will examine the theories and practice of providing history for public audiences in museums, archives, historical societies, at historical sites, and thorugh electronic media, emphasizing the unique challenges associated with public history. The course will also explore various career opportunities awaiting students in public history.

Prerequisites: HIST1100 or HIST1200 and 60 credits
